TechMunchies: Firefox Add-ons

This afternoon I gave a 1-hour TechMunchies presentation to staff on Firefox Add-ons. After spending a few minutes explaining what Firefox is and some of its benefits, I focued on highlighting some of the best Firefox add-ons out there right now. The intended audience was people who did not yet use Firefox on a regular basis yet or people who use it but don’t know a lot of add-ons. I didn’t include things like Firebug and Web Developer, though those are two of my personal must-have add-ons.

Some other notes:

  • I did not know about Add to Search Bar! I spent some time last year working on an SPL search plugin and it turns out I didn’t need to because this add-on allows you to add ANY search engine to the search bar just by right clicking on a search box.
  • I rediscovered Autopager after using it for awhile a couple years ago and somehow losing it.  Makes sifting through search results so much easier!
  • I am in awe of Ubiquity. Enough said.

Check out my slides for more suggestions and links to add these to your Firefox browsers. Are there any that I didn’t include but really should have?

Also, thanks to @utopianlibrary, @danielhahn, @windyfox, @theanalogdivide, @mickjacobsen, @richardcadler, @ao5357, and @bkochendorfer for tweeting me suggestions. Seriously, Twitter makes my life so much easier!

  1. Rich,

I loved the presentation. I even picked up a couple of new add ons.

  2. Thanks Anna! I found several new add-ons while preparing the talk. It’s hard to keep up! Let me know if you come across any others that are worth adding.
