It’s Super Bowl weekend and that means all Bears fans start thinking about the ’85 Bears! Yes, people, we still live in the past, daydreaming about the 46 defense, Walter, McMahon, Speedy Willie, mustached Matt Suhey, and yes, even Steve Fuller. We <del datetime="2009-02-01T20:47:49+00:00">occasionally</del> frequently break out into spontaneous renditions of the Super Bowl Shuffle when we’re alone in the car. We really do believe the Bears didn’t come “lookin’ for trouble.” We smile from ear to ear whenever we see an old clip of the Refrigerator Perry falling on top of someone/anyone! Ditka could end up being a mass murderer and we would still kinda believe that he can do no wrong. We believe that it is a crying shame that Richard Dent is not yet in the Hall of Fame! And, most of all, we refuse to believe that any team, especially any defense, can measure up to the ’85 Bears. So who cares who wins the SuperBowl this year?!

And in case you all forgot who the ’85 Bears were and what they accomplished, here ya go!

My favorite part: 2:30

My library is gaming in more ways than one. Recently we had our first Scrabble Open Play event and more than 16 people showed up for some fierce word battles. We provided the deluxe scrabble sets and awarded copies of the Official Scrabble Dictionary to some of the top scorers. And just a few days ago, we held our first Senior Wii Club event and about 18 people came out. Everyone was really into it and some in particular were definitely not afraid to show a little emotion. We had one gentleman make an eagle in Wii Sports Golf and he got a quite the reaction when that happened. We’re planning on making both these events a regular monthly thing and we’re also starting gaming programs for youth. And…my hope is to someday put on a Madden Football tournament. Maybe the week of the Superbowl?!

Check out some pics (courtesy of Ruth) from these two events:

Will it be Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley? I haven’t seen Beasley play much (just a few highlights from the NCAA tourney), but I caught a few Memphis games on television this past season and Rose looks incredible. Oh, it’s a good day to be a Bulls fan! Read more at ESPN.

Some thoughts after the Super Bowl:

1. Still the greatest single-season team ever? Yes, the ’85 Chicago Bears! If the Giants were able to get to Brady, imagine what the 46 would have been able to do to him!

2. I know there was just one second left on the clock, but Bill Belichick should have stayed on the field. His classless early exit to the locker room reminded me of Isaiah Thomas and the Pistons walking off the court as they were getting swept by the Bulls in 1991. And the post-game interview, if you want to call it that, was priceless. Has there ever been a more unlikable coach in the history of sports?

3. Tiki Barber has to be hating life right about now. Not only did he leave the Giants one year too soon, he was also proved wrong about Eli Manning.

4. My favorite ad was the Tide-to-go ad:
